Transfer deadline day: Man City agree joint British record Enzo Fernandez move
Chelsea have agreed to sell midfielder Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125million as Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo prepare to make deadline-day moves to rivals Tottenham.
With the 11pm deadline fast approaching, the Press Association understands a British record-equalling deal has been struck to take the Argentina international to the Etihad Stadium.
The size of the fee for Fernandez matches that paid by Liverpool to Newcastle for Alexander Isak a year ago and comes on a day when Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye joined City for up to £65m, signing a contract until 2031.
As for Chelsea’s eye-catching transfer business, defender Adarabioyo is set to leave Stamford Bridge for Spurs along with Mudryk as he reunites with his former Shakhtar Donetsk coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in an £89m deal in 2023 and in July came back from a 20-month suspension after returning an adverse finding for the banned substance meldonium in 2024.
The loan deal is understood to include the option to make the move permanent for £75m, while Adarabioyo is set to switch for £7m – a deal that has seen Kevin Danso join Sunderland.
The Austria international moves to the Stadium of Light on loan with an obligation for the deal to become permanent if certain performance related conditions are met.
Marc Guiu has already completed his Chelsea exit, joining RB Leipzig for £14.5m, while Dario Essugo and and Deivid Washington have joined sister club Strasbourg on loan and permanent deals respectively.
The Blues have also agreed a deal to sign 18-year-old Honest Ahanor from Atalanta next summer, but the defender will spend this season in the Premier League on loan at Crystal Palace.
Work continues at rebuilding Aston Villa, with winger Ibrahim Mbaye joining from Paris St Germain in a reported club-record £47m deal on deadline day.
Unai Emery’s men have also acquired England defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton in a move rising to £30m.
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, who endured a nightmare loan spell at Villa Park last term, has joined LaLiga outfit Valencia for the season.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has arrived at Newcastle from Lille for £51m, while Nick Woltemade has joined Juventus on a season-long loan. Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr also moved to the Turin club on deadline day on an initial loan.
Everton have agreed a deal to take Jack Grealish on another season-long loan from Manchester City, PA understands, and have sold striker Beto to Serie A side Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.
Arsenal have sold Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona, where he has signed a three-year deal.
Fabio Vieira has joined Hamburg on a permanent deal after spending last season there and Ethan Nwaneri has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan.
United have parked discussions to sign Leicester teenager Louis Page, PA understands, while Sunderland appear to have beaten Crystal Palace to the signature of Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
Premier League surprise package Hull look set for a busy evening, having already signed striker Ilyas Ansah from Bundesliga side Union Berlin for an undisclosed fee.
