Today expected to be hottest May bank holiday on record

Health warnings are being issued

Weather forecasters are predicting this could be the hottest early May bank holiday Monday on record.

The previous record is for highs of 28.6 degrees celsius, with some parts of the UK expected to reach 29 degrees celsius today.

If the maximum temperature is hit it will be the hottest since the holiday began in 1978.

We are being urged to use SPF and stay hydrated on long journeys in the heat.
