Former Crucible champion hands out a whitewash

The first World Championship whitewash since 1992.

Shaun Murphy completed his first round victory over Luo Honghao needing just one frame to complete a 10-0 whitewash of his Chinese opponent.

Leading 9-0 overnight, Murphy wrapped up the match, becoming only the second player in the World Championship to complete the feat, the last being John Parrott beating Eddie Charlton in 1992.

Honghao now also hold the record for the fewest points scored in a Crucible match, scoring just 89 points in the 10 frames, with a highest break of 25.

Murphy will now face another former champion in the second round.  Neil Robertson was also looking for a whitewash in his first round match against Michael Georgiou, but the score ended up 10-1 to the Australian.
