Alex Scott withdraws from England squad and faces up to two months out
Alex Scott will miss England’s Nations League fixture with Czechia on Tuesday and could be out for up to two months with a thigh problem.
It is a blow for Thomas Tuchel, who described Scott as the “complete package” after an excellent full debut for his country in Saturday’s 7-0 win in Croatia.
Scott will sit out Tuesday’s fixture and has returned to club side Bournemouth for further assessments, but Press Association understands the midfielder is not set to return until after next month’s international camp.
Tuchel will also be without Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa due to an unspecified problem.
Rico Lewis, who was part of Lee Carsley’s under-21 group, was promoted to the senior set-up on Sunday night.
A Football Association statement read: “Ezri Konsa and Alex Scott have been ruled out of Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League meeting with Czechia at Wembley.
“The pair have returned to their respective clubs for further assessment.
“Thomas Tuchel will continue his preparations for the final fixture of this international window with a squad of 22 players.”
Manchester City defender Lewis last played for England during Carsley’s time as interim boss in November 2024.
Tuchel will face the media on Monday ahead of the Czechia clash at Wembley.
