SIX DEAD IN BIRMINGHAM CRASH

POLICE ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING A SERIOUS COLLISION INVOLVING THREE CARS IN BIRMINGHAM WHICH HAS LEFT SIX PEOPLE DEAD.

 

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the road just after 1am.

 

Despite the best efforts of emergency service colleagues, five people were sadly confirmed dead at the scene and a further person was later pronounced dead.

 

Three other people involved in the collision remain in hospital this morning with serious injuries.

 

Sgt Alan Hands from West Midlands police Collision Investigation Unit said: “We are currently dealing with a very serious collision and working with partner agencies to establish what caused this collision to happen.

 

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with the families of those who have very sadly lost their lives this morning and those who have been injured or caught up in this incident.”

 

The road remains closed and is likely to be closed all day while officers make the scene safe. Motorists are asked to avoid the area as best they can.
