Voters gather in Washington DC on election day
President Trump and Mr Biden await their fate as demonstrators mark the US Election escorted by police.
There were joyous scenes in parts of Washington DC as demonstrators broke into dance while following a lorryload of musicians through the downtown area.
Night has fallen in the US capital and the vehicle drove past street after street of boarded-up buildings, a preventative measure taken by the city to minimise damage in case of unrest.
Protesters chanted “no justice, no peace” as a heavy police presence escorted the lorry playing R&B music through the streets near the White House.
One of the musicians urged the crowd not to cause trouble ahead of a night in which tempers are expected to fray.
