Unions have reacted to Boris Johnson's warning of a ' wage price spiral'

Unions have reacted with anger to a warning from Boris Johnson of a “wage-price spiral” if pay packets increase in line with soaring inflation, saying his claims are “nonsense”.

 

TUC deputy general secretary Paul Nowak said energy prices are pushing up inflation, not wages.

 

He said: “It hasn’t taken long for the Prime Minister to abandon his commitment to a high-wage economy.

 

“These claims are nonsense. The only way to give families long-term financial security is to get pay rising across the economy.
