Two dead and seven injured in three car crash in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after two people died and a further seven were injured in a collision near Thirsk on Wednesday night.

It happened on the A61 between Busby Stoop and Carlton Miniott at around 9.25pm.

 

Three vehicles were involved - a black Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a green Volkswagen Bora that were believed to be travelling from Thirsk to Busby Stoop.

 

Two boys, believed to be 17 years-old, sadly died at the scene. A further five people and two children have been taken to hospital.

 

Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation.

 

In particular, anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling in the area at the time with dashboard cameras in operation prior to the collision is urged to contact them.

The stretch of road remained closed to traffic to allow emergency services to attend to the casualties and to allow collision investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at approx. 4.45am on Thursday 8 March.

 

We are not in a position to name the deceased at this stage.
