Trial adjourned for man, 21, accused of possessing terrorist documents
The trial of a 21-year-old man accused of having a stash of terrorist documents has been adjourned for an intermediary to be brought in to assist the defendant.
Charles Cannon, 21, from Highfield Avenue, Aldershot, Hampshire, is charged with seven counts of possession of terrorist information allegedly relating to far-right extremism.
It allegedly includes details on homemade explosives, “unconventional warfare devices and techniques” and “booby traps”.
The offences were said to have taken place on dates between March 2018 and June 26 2019.
Judge Jane Miller QC adjourned the case at Winchester Crown Court in order for an intermediary to be employed to assist the defendant.
She told the defendant: “I am afraid the trial for good reasons is not going ahead. The reason I have taken to adjourn the trial is to assist you because the trial must be fair.”
The judge adjourned the case to a date to be fixed and released the defendant on conditional bail.
