The parents of Archie Battersbee approach UN for intervention

Parents claim decision is a violation of disabled people's rights.

The parents of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee have asked the United Nations to intervene after losing a life-support treatment fight in London courts.

A spokesman for Archie’s family said on Friday that a “last-ditch” application to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities had been made.

He said Archie’s parents were arguing that the committee has a protocol which allows “individuals and families” to make complaints about “violations of disabled people’s rights”.
