Soldiers arrested in raids linked to cleric blamed for Turkey's failed coup

Turkish authorities have detained 115 soldiers who are suspected of links to the US-based Muslim cleric blamed by Turkey for a failed coup attempt in 2016. The soldiers detained on Tuesday are among 176 soldiers that prosecutors ordered detained as part of an ongoing investigation into Fethullah Gulen's network.

The suspects include six F-16 pilots and four district gendarmerie commanders.

Turkey has arrested some 77,000 people and purged around 130,000 others from state jobs in a major crackdown on the network since the coup.

Mr Gulen denies involvement.
