Number of obese people overtakes smokers
According to new research from Cancer Research UK, obese people in the UK now outnumber smokers by two to one.
Excess weight is causing more cases of cancers such as bowel cancer, kidney cancer, ovarian cancer and liver cancer than smoking.
The charity urges the Government to take action on tackling obesity as it launches a nationwide campaign to increase public awareness of the link between obesity and cancer.
