Not enough evidence to confirm screen time is harmful to children - report

It's the first time guidance has been issued to parents. But they suggest they don't use them an hour before bed.

Publishing the first ever UK guidance on children's screen time, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health concludes there is 'not enough evidence' to confirm that screen time is harmful to child health at any age.

The guidance suggest that parents instead approach screen time based on the child's developmental age, and notes that despite negative associations between screen time and poor mental health, sleep, and fitness, it 'cannot be sure' that the links are causal or if other factors play a contributing role.

The RCPCH concludes that parents should do what is right 'by their family', and suggests establishing age-appropriate boundaries.

But experts think they should be avoided one hour before bedtime.
