Milkshakes found to contain "grotesque" levels of sugar

milkshakes sold in high street restaurants and fast food chains contain 'grotesque' levels of sugar and calories.

That's according to a survey by Action on Sugar.

The campaign cites Toby Carvery's Unicorn Freakshake and Five Guys' Banana and Chocolate Shake which both contain around six times the recommended daily amount of sugar for a 7- to 10-year-old.

Action on Sugar calls for a nutrition traffic light system to be introduced on food menus and a ban on the sale of milkshakes that exceed a calorie limit of 300 kcal per serving.
