Man admits murdering fellow homeless hostel resident

A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering a fellow homeless hostel resident in a savage and unprovoked attack.

Jordan Graham, of no fixed address, admitted killing 69-year-old Abu Yusuf Twaha during a hearing at the Old Bailey on Monday.

Mr Twaha was repeatedly stamped on during the attack at a hostel in Hackney, east London, on September 6 2020.

He was taken to hospital and died on February 18 last year.

The prosecution had alleged that he had suffered bleeding on the brain following a “savage” and “unprovoked” assault lasting minutes.

On Monday, Graham appeared in court before Judge John Hillen and entered his plea to murder.

He had previously pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent.

Sentencing was adjourned until July 11 and Graham was remanded into custody.
