LGA calls for tougher fly-tipping punishments

The Local Government Association is calling for courts to hand out tougher punishments to fly-tippers to deter the practice.

It wants the Government to alter its guidance given to the courts.

The call comes as analysis suggests that fly-tipping has increased by 40% since 2012, but that no individual has been given the maximum £50,000 fine or 12 month prison sentence.
