Hundreds of passengers spend the night at Stansted as snow and ice cancels flights

Around 300 passengers have spent the night at Stansted Airport after snow and ice forced runways to be closed leading to flight delays and cancellations.

In a statement issued this morning they say:"We would like to inform that all flights are anticipated to opperate as scheduled today, however passengers are still reminded to check the latest status of their flight with the airline before travelling to the Airport. We continue advising passengers to keep up to date with the latest traffic & transport updates, allow extra time for their travel and plan their journey to and from the airport accordingly."Weather warnings remain in place for much of the UK with the Met Office saying: "Icy patches are expected on on untreated surfaces, pavements and cycle paths and where showers wash off treatment. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces may occur."Further snow showers are also forecast for Friday.
