Gary Oldman nominated for Best Actor Oscar

Gary Oldman has been nominated for best actor at the Oscars for his portrayal of Sir Winston Churchill in the Darkest Hour.

The British actor is the bookies favourite to take home the accolade.

He's up against Denzel Washington, Daniel Kaluuya, Daniel Day-Lewis and Timothee Chalamet.

Among those up for best actress include Meryl Streep, Margot Robbie and Sally Hawkins.

 

Darkest Hour is nominated for Best Picture along with the Shape of Water which leads the way with 13 nominations in total. 

Dunkirk has eight.
