Concerns over nurse and GP shortages

The Nuffield Trust, The King's Fund and the Health Foundation publish Closing the Gap about nurse and GP shortages.

It's a report calling for a radical expansion of nurse training, grants of £5,200 per year and the recruitment of 5,000 nurses from abroad to quell the NHS workforce crisis.

The report says there are significant staff shortages in nursing and general practice and suggests that without action nurse shortages will double to 70,000 and there will be a deficit of 7,000 GPs in England by 2023-24.
