Figures released show that London spending is triple that of the North of England

The Institute for Public Policy Research has released a report analysing the Government's planned spending on transport projects and infrastructure.

It's found that London is set to receive almost three times more money per person than the North, and seven times more per person than in Yorkshire or the North East.

The report states that London will receive some £3,636 per person, the North will receive just £1,247 per person, with the North East being allocated £519, Yorkshire £511, and the North West £2,062.

The Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham has hit out, following Boris Johnson's recent visit to the city and a promise to "turbocharge" investment in the north.

He's said that Government promises are "as reliable as our trains."
