Regulators must work together to protect customers - report

A report from MPs says regulators in the water, energy, telecoms and financial services sectors must work together to protect the interests of consumers.

They often face the same problems across all sectors, according to a report by MPs on the Public Accounts Committee.

Despite consumers experiencing common issues, such as difficulties with paying bills, debts, and switching, individual regulators take 'different and often inconsistent' approaches to addressing them, and the report says that the industry bodies have not made enough progress in working together to protect those affected, with the issues particularly prevalent among vulnerable consumers.
