Britain continues to be hit by bad weather
Motorists queued for hours on Britain's roads through the night, with Highways England saying 80,000 miles of roads have been gritted, ahead of more adverse weather.
Images on social media showed cars brought to a standstill on motorways across the country.
Highways England says officers worked until the early hours of the morning to clear snow on the M3.
It's as the Met Office predicts more cold weather is on the way, with temperatures set to drop to minus sixteen in parts of Scotland.
Authorities across the country are asking motorists to take care when driving.
Anyone caught in snow should not rev their engine.
Instead, charities are telling drivers to use a high gear and drive very slowly.
Police are also asking people to adhere to road closures.
It's after a number of vehicle's became stuck in Ellsemere Port in the North West of England.
Yellow weather warnings are in place for parts of England until noon on Saturday.
